What mediums are these brushes designed for?
The Flow & Precision Set is designed primarily for watercolour, making use of the water capacity, softness, spring and responsiveness of natural hair.
The brushes can also be used with traditional gouache, although we recommend keeping them primarily for watercolour to maintain their condition and performance. Avoid acrylics or other paints that can dry permanently in the natural hair.
Why combine goat, squirrel and Kolinsky?
Each offers different handling characteristics. Goat is soft and absorbent, making it well suited to broad washes. Grey squirrel offers excellent water capacity and a soft release for fluid washes and transitions. Kolinsky combines water-holding capacity with greater spring and resilience, making it suited to controlled strokes and finer details.
How should I care for natural-hair brushes?
Rinse thoroughly in clean water after use, gently reshape the hairs and allow the brushes to dry flat. Avoid leaving them standing in water or allowing paint to dry in the hairs.
Once completely dry, store them in the included roll-up pouch.
