What size brush can the Brush Compartment hold?

The compartment will house a brush that is 4.2 in (10.8 cm) in length or smaller.

What size Half Pans can the case hold?

Half Pans come in slightly different sizes. The Half Pan Tray was designed to hold most common Half Pans up to 19.70mm x 16.70mm in size.

What size Sketchbook / Paper will fit in the case?

The Set includes a space to hold a Sketchbook or loose pieces of watercolour paper up to 5.6cm x 5.6cm in size.

What are the circles under each Half Pan slot in the Half Pan Tray?

These slots are designed to house "sticky tack" if you wish to better secure your Half Pans. Another solution is to install your own 5mm circumference x 2mm depth circular magnets with glue.

What are the Sketchbook paper specifications?

This sketchbook uses 230gsm (110lbs) acid-free, artist-grade, 100% cotton cold press paper. The paper tone is traditional white.

What is cold press paper?

Cold press paper has a slightly textured finished, or more "tooth". It is often a go to for watercolour artists as the textured finish can provide a little more water control. It is also great for those looking to accentuate the effect of pigment granulation.

Why is acid-free and cotton paper important?

The best paper is acid-free and has a high amount of cotton. Using acid-free paper helps to prevent the "yellowing" that can happen in paper over the years, meaning your art will stand the test of time. The more cotton a paper has, the better it holds water, the more durable it is, and the more vibrant the pigment remains.

Can you paint on both sides of the paper?

Yes you can. Each book has 52 pages (or 26 sheets) and each page can be painted on thanks to the quality of the paper.

About Zak

About Zak

Zak is a stay at home dad, Artist and Product Designer based just outside of Seattle.

As a growing artist, Zak found himself seeking out quality art products that inspired him to create but was often frustrated with the lack of solutions that were available for the unique challenges he faced when making art. As is the way with many creatives, when he couldn't find something that suited his needs, he would try to make something that did!

His product design focus quickly turned to his passion for watercolour palettes. Zak taught himself to design palettes using software and a 3D printer and over the years he has made hundreds of prototypes, gradually iterating to final products that he proudly shares with the world.

Today Zak small-batch manufactures 3D printed palettes from his home garage, finishing each one by hand before sending them to artists all around the world. He has truly become a master of his craft!

About this Collaboration

About this Collaboration

When Zak discovered Stephanie Law's Etchr Mini Palette, he was inspired to create an even more convenient "after-market" carry solution. Having seen his wonderful designs pop up on social media we reached out to him to see if there was a way in which we could work together. After a few catch ups we all agreed that it was a good idea to work together to make more of his 3D printed designs available to the wider Etchr community!

Etchr is proud to join forces with Zak to bring this Mini Watercolour Set to life. Zak's commitment to innovating in an industry that rarely experiences change is something we celebrate here at Etchr.

We can't wait to see these wonderful custom designed set in the hands of all those who support this very special project.
