Why 100% cotton?
Cotton paper is the best surface for watercolour and is also great for mixed media. 100% cotton paper is capable of taking multiple heavy washes, stands up well to damaging techniques like dry brushing, and helps keep the pigment looking vibrant over the passage of time. The surface provides the perfect level of brush resistance while allowing the pigment to flow beautifully across the page. Those that "upgrade" to 100% cotton paper often credit it as having had a greater impact on their art than the quality of paint that they use.
Why is acid-free paper important?
The best paper is acid-free and has a high amount of cotton. Using acid-free paper helps to prevent the "yellowing" that can happen in paper over the years, meaning your art will stand the test of time.
Can you paint on both sides of the paper?
Yes you can. Each page can be painted on thanks to the quality of the paper.
Designed by Australian artist and designer Darren Yeow, the Nano Satchel was built to help you make more art on the go. Envisaged as a streamlined version of the Etchr Slate, the Nano Satchel retains the unique quick assemble drawing platform that the Slate range is known for but has a smaller footprint and uses simplified materials and components. The Nano Satchel is perfect for artists who use a physical medium and who travel light, and sketch on the go. Suitable for both left & right-handed artists, this bag enables you to draw while standing, walking or sitting.
External Dimensions:
- Length: 26.7 cm or 10.5 in
- Width: 18.7 cm or 7.6 in
- Depth: 6.6 cm or 2.6 in
Internal Dimensions:
- Length: 24.4 cm or 9.6 in
- Width: 16.1 cm or 6.5 in
- Depth: 3cm or 1.2 in
Weight: 0.5 kgs or 1.2 lbs
Is the bag waterproof or water-resistant?
The Nano Satchel uses a water-repellent polyester external material that has some water resistance. However, it is not as water-resistant as the Art Satchel, Field Case or Slate Range. These products use more expensive materials and components that are better suited to wild weather.
What components come with the Nano Satchel?
Our Nano Satchel comes with a built-in elastic Tool Strip and a Shoulder Strap.
Does the bag come in different sizes and colours?
At this stage the Nano Satchel comes in only one colour and size. Those looking for something larger should consider our Slate Mini.
Can the Nano Satchel support a tablet?
Unlike the Slate range, the Nano Satchel does not have elastic corner tabs for securing drawing tablets. This product was designed for use with physical materials.
What size paper will the Nano Satchel support?
The Nano Satchel is perfect for use with A5 or smaller size traditional mediums.
Designed in collaboration with Californian artist Stephanie Law, the Mini Palette is a travel-sized watercolourist companion to carry and store your favourite 19 colours in one tiny porcelain kit.
How many pieces does the Mini Palette have?
The Mini Palette is composed of one colour wheel, one mixer (both made of porcelain) and one 200g cold press colour chart for you to swatch your chosen colours. All of this comes inside a small steel case, separated by cotton disks to keep everything neatly organized and separated.
Does the Mini Palette come with paints?
The Mini Palette colour wheel comes empty and ready for you to customize with your own selection of watercolours or gouache!
How many colours can it hold?
The Mini Palette colour wheel has 19 wells that can be filled with any colours you like!
How deep are the wells? Can they take enough paint if I'm going on a trip?
It really depends on how much paint you use. Each well has a depth of 6mm. Yes, the Mini Palette is indeed mini, but if you fill up each well, the paint should last you for a considerate amount of time (the smaller wells in the 37 well Mini Palettelast Stephanie months, so this one lasts even longer!).
What is the size and weight of the Mini Palette?
Each porcelain disk is 0.9cm (~0.3in) high and 7.5cm (3in) wide. The metal case is 2.5cm (~1in) high and 8.5cm (3.3in) wide. With the empty porcelain disks inside, the tin weighs 230g (0.5 lbs). Each porcelain disk weighs 100g (0.2 lbs) and the tin itself weighs~ 50g (0.1 lbs).
What if I want more colour charts?
No problem at all! You can download more colour charts right here and print them at home!
Designed in collaboration with Californian artist Stephanie Law, the Pocket Palette is a travel-sized watercolourist companion designed to carry 7 half-pans and 2 mixing wells. It has a modular design that includes magnetically secured removable half-pan and mixing-well inserts. When these inserts are removed, the case can also be used to carry the Etchr Mini Palette.
How many pieces does the Pocket Palette have?
The Pocket Palette is composed of one case (that can also hold the porcelain Mini Palette), one 6-well Mixing Well, one 2-well Mixing Well, and a half-pan insert that holds 7 standard half-pans.
Does the Pocket Palette come with paints?
The Pocket Palette comes empty and ready for you to customize with your own selection of paint!
How many colours can it hold?
The Pocket Palette holds 7 colours in standard half-pans, or, 19 or 37 colours, if used to store the Etchr Mini Palette!
Which brand of half-pans can the Pocket Palette Carry?
Paint brands sometimes use very slightly different sized half-pans so this Pocket Palette was designed with slightly more space in order to hold some of the most popular brands including but not limited to Winsor & Newton, Daniel Smith, Sennelier, Roman Szmal, Maimeri, Jackson's, etc. If you find your preferred brand of half-pans does not fit then you may like to source your own better fitting empty half-pans.
What is the Pocket Palette made of?
Hardened Polystyrene was chosen to produce the Pocket Palette due to it's durability and because it is more difficult to stain with pigment than most other materials.
What is the size and weight of the Pocket Palette?
Width: 9.4cm (3.7in)
Length: 9.7cm (3.8in)
Height: 3.3cm (1.3in)
Weight: 133g (4.7oz)
We offer a two-year limited warranty, beginning at the time of purchase on all Etchr products sold. We warrant our products to be free from manufacturing defects in materials, workmanship, and failure or breakage of parts/full products that render them non-functional.
